Author's Comments:
Are you sad that the catchlight texture was removed, and now it's no longer so simple to remove the eye catchlight from your characters? Want them to look dead inside? I gotchu.
Due to this change being exclusive to the face you are editing, this mod page does not have anything for you to download as I don't feel like manually going through every face in the game and uploading a mod file with them all, sorry! However, this page is the host of the instructions so you can do this yourself for the face you want!
You will need:
TexTools
Penumbra (Optional)
Instructions (TexTools Standalone Version) (NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE NEVER USED TEXTOOLS BEFORE):
1. Make sure FFXIV is CLOSED. Open TexTools and make sure you're in UNSAFE mode at the top right.
2. Locate the face you want to remove the catchlight from. (Character -> Face -> [Race] [Gender] -> [Race] [Gender] [Face Number])
3. Hit the Materials tab at the top of the screen for your face (it's the middle button), and select [Race] [Gender]: IRI A
4. Open the shader constants with the Edit Shader Constants button.
5. Locate CB0338DC g_IrisAPrefersRg(?), and change the three values beside it to all be 0.
6. Locate 074953E9, and change the only value beside it to 5.
7. Hit confirm and close the window. then select "Save to FFXIV Install" at the bottom right.
8. (Optional) To export the modpack to be used outside of TexTools, select the "Mods" tab at the top left and navigate to Create Modpack -> From Files.
9. (Optional) Locate the file called "chara/human/c----/obj/face/f----/material/mt_c----f----_iri_a.mtrl", the dashes will be replaced with your respective racial identifier number and face number. Hit the checkbox beside it.
10. (Optional) If you want, name your modpack at the top, and put your author name. If empty, they will be given a default name. Hit export files, and save your mod on your PC where you can easily access it.
11. (Optional but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) If you do not want your changes to be saved to your FFXIV install, select the "Help" tab at the top and select "Start Over" to have TexTools restore your install to default.
Instructions (Penumbra & TexTools Version):
1. Open FFXIV with XIVLauncher, and make sure you have Penumbra installed and enabled.
2. In the "Mods" tab of Penumbra, select the plus (+) icon at the bottom left and create a new mod.
3. In your new mod, select the "Advanced Editing" tab, this will bring up a new window.
4. Select the "Import from Screen" tab at the top, and make sure your character is currently the race and face you want to remove the catchlight from.
5. Open the dropdown called "[Race] [Gender] Face [Face Number]" and find the listing called "[Race] [Gender] Face (Iris) [Face Number]". At the very right of this listing, hit the button that looks like a piece of paper with an arrow. This adds the iris material to your mod. Feel free to close the advanced editing window once this is done.
6. Open TexTools. You cannot edit these particular shader constants in Penumbra.
7. Make sure your system state is in SAFE mode. Select "Transaction Status" at the top right.
8. Select "Attach To Penumbra" and locate the mod folder you just created a few steps ago. Select that folder, and then select "Commit Transaction" at the bottom right.
9. Once the Transaction Status is now labelled as "Penumbra Sync" you can close the Transaction Manager window.
10. Locate the face you want to remove the catchlight from. (Character -> Face -> [Race] [Gender] -> [Race] [Gender] [Face Number])
11. Hit the Materials tab at the top of the screen for your face (it's the middle button), and select [Race] [Gender]: IRI A
12. Open the shader constants with the Edit Shader Constants button.
13. Locate CB0338DC g_IrisAPrefersRg(?), and change the three values beside it to all be 0.
14. Locate 074953E9, and change the only value beside it to 5.
15. Hit confirm and close the window. then select "Save to Penumbra" at the bottom right. You can now close TexTools.
16. Enable your mod and redraw your character, they should have no catchlight!
The constants I mentioned in the instructions are just the ones I found to provide the best result, however feel free to fiddle with them to your liking.

(And if you scrolled all the way down here thinking "oh my god this is way too much for my smooth brain", and you still really want this done for your character, send me a message on Discord. I'm open to doing these for a few people when I get the time if you're unable to do it yourself.)
