Thank you to Bacara for the guide to using CharacterScroll.shpk!
Author's Comments:
A mod inspired by Melinoë from Hades II that suffered greatly from a lovely little thing called scope creep. I'm super proud of how it came out, though. This mod turns the Claws of the Beast into a pair of long gloves that act as aetheric prosthetic arms on one or both of your arms. These arms use CharacterScroll.shpk, which allows the aether texture to scroll down the arm as if animated! Works on all genders and races EXCEPT male Roegadyn, male Hrothgar, and male & female Lalafell.
Requires TBSE or Bibo, unless you are using the prosthetic on both arms. The male and female versions of this mod are split up into two different modpacks; please only use one per collection!
The aether material is dyeable on dye slot 1, and dye slot 2 is used for the painted nails option that can be toggled on.
As these are long gloves, they will auto-hide any long sleeves on tops. They work like how the Ravel Keeper Casting/Healing or Republican Signifer's fingerless gloves do.
It's got quite a few toggles. There are toggles for:
-Picking between the prosthetic being on the right arm, the left arm, or both arms.
-Picking between textures for the aetheric material: Smooth, Volatile, Subtle, Dappled, or Rippling. These all look and dye a little bit differently, so be sure to test them all out.
-Picking between gold or silver color for the armbands.
-Toggling on or off certain features on the arms: long nails on the prosthetic arm, ornate arm bands, simple arm bands, bones inside the prosthetic arm, and painted fingernails on the regular arm. You can mix and match all these options together as you please (except the two arm band options, as these don't look great together, and the upper arm seams look wonky with neither of them equipped as well).
If you would like to make custom edits to these arms, or fit other gloves to them, please feel free, as long as you credit all the contributors who have parts included in your edit if it's published. One thing to remember is to leave UV2 (named UV1 in Blender) intact on the prosthetic arms mesh specifically, as it has a modified UV layout to allow CharacterScroll to scroll down the mesh without seams.
If you'd like to tweak the colorsets of the materials, the meshes are assigned as follows:
MAT A: Prosthetic claws
MAT B: Aether skin
MAT C: Bones
MAT D: Ornate armbands
MAT E: Simple armbands
MAT F: Painted nails
In the .zip file download for this mod, I've included a text file with a few notes for if you'd like to edit the aetheric arm to get different effects, such as direction of the scroll, opacity of the arm, and dye intensity. It also includes a link to the guide I used to get the CharacterScroll material working on my mesh.
Known issues: There might be some slight clipping of the bone through the aether mesh on some races when the elbow is bent at severe or unnatural angles. I did my best to remove as much clipping as possible, but there may be some remaining, apologies. Additionally, the transparency on the aether arms will look kinda blurry when using the Depth of Field options in ReShade or vanilla gpose. Not much I can do about that one, it's just a shader thing. Try framing any screenshots so that the arm is backed by a solid surface that is relatively close to it, and that tends to remove the blur. Increasing the opacity of the arm material also decreases the blur.
If there's any interest, I will consider making versions of this mod for TBSE-X, YAB Buff, or vanilla bodies, but the default TBSE and Bibo versions were enough work as is that I wanted to get them out first. Like I mentioned before, scope creep is a bitch. I might also make quarter-arm or hand-only versions if there's interest.
If you'd like to show some appreciation for my mods, which are all free and always will be, you can leave a tip for me at the Ko-Fi linked in my bio . It's always optional, but would mean a lot!
