I understand that AI has an environmental footprint. So do streaming services, gaming, cloud storage, smartphones, online shopping, data centers, transportation, manufacturing, and practically every other part of modern life. What I will not accept is being treated like a moral failure because I choose to use AI as a creative and problem-solving tool.
If environmentalism matters to you, then advocate for cleaner energy, responsible infrastructure, better regulation, reduced corporate waste, conservation, and sustainable technology. Those are worthwhile conversations. Harassing individual people online because they generated an image or used an AI tool is not environmental activism. It is moral grandstanding.
I am allowed to enjoy technology. I am allowed to create things for fun. I am allowed to use tools that make my life easier without submitting myself to an internet purity test. You do not have to like AI, and you do not have to use it. But disagreement does not give anyone the right to bully, shame, or attack the people who do.
